Elderly check

Regular Health check are essential to prevent and diagnose early stage disease.
During a health examination of your pet the Vet will be assessing the colour of the membranes, eyes and ears, lymph nodes, temperature, weight, skin and fur condition. The vet will also perform a heart and lungs auscultation and will examine the abdomen of your pet.
In an elderly patient regular examination become even more important and blood tests are the key to picking up early-stage diseases or to ensuring that the therapy of your pet is working well and at the correct dosage. This becomes even more important in elderly patients. A Complete Blood Count can detect infections, anaemia, dehydration, blood disorders and the immune system response. Blood Chemistries show if any enzymes, electrolytes, minerals and hormone levels are too low or too high, often indicating a problem in how organs function. Bloodwork is also essential to determine whether your pet is healthy enough and ready to undergo anaesthesia.
